Obi Failed Anambra In 8 Years, Can’t Fix Nigeria In 4 Years — Oshiomhole

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has launched a fresh attack on opposition figures Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, questioning their leadership qualities and dismissing their chances of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, claimed that Obi failed to address Anambra State’s challenges during his eight-year tenure as governor, arguing that he cannot deliver meaningful change in Nigeria within a four-year presidential term.

He also mocked Atiku, accusing the former vice-president of spending most of his time outside Nigeria and predicting that he would return to Dubai after losing the 2027 election.

The senator made the remarks during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Cross River State, where he canvassed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

‘Korokoro In The Eye’

Questioning Obi’s promise to serve only one four-year term if elected president, Oshiomhole said the former Anambra governor had failed to demonstrate the capacity to transform the country.

“If Peter Obi could not fix Anambra State in eight years, how can he look you korokoro in the eye and say he will do it in four years?” he asked.

Oshiomhole also took aim at Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing him of returning to Nigeria mainly during election seasons.

“Atiku, who lives in Dubai, only comes home at the eve of every election. When he loses this one, as he will lose, in January or by February, Atiku will be back in Dubai,” he said.

The former governor’s remarks come amid growing political manoeuvring and exchanges among political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Making The Case For Tinubu

While attacking the opposition figures, Oshiomhole urged Cross River residents to support Tinubu, highlighting what he described as the achievements of the president’s administration.

He specifically cited the recognition of Cross River State as an oil-producing state following the resolution of its non-littoral status, saying the development would increase the state’s revenue and improve its economic prospects.

On education, Oshiomhole defended the federal government’s student loan scheme, arguing that it had expanded access to higher education for young Nigerians whose parents could not afford their tuition fees.

He said the initiative demonstrated Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring that financial constraints did not prevent students from pursuing their education.

The senator also listed the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project among the major infrastructure initiatives expected to benefit Cross River State, saying its completion would create economic opportunities and stimulate development.

Defending the administration’s economic policies, Oshiomhole particularly praised the abolition of multiple exchange rates, which he said had created an unfair system where access to foreign exchange depended on personal connections.

He argued that the current exchange-rate arrangement had introduced greater uniformity, insisting that implementing the reforms required courage and visionary leadership.

Oshiomhole urged residents to reject opposition parties and maintain their support for the APC, expressing confidence that the ruling party would retain its political influence in Cross River State.

“Today, tomorrow, and forever, I believe APC has come to stay in Cross River, and together we will advance the growth and development of Nigeria,” he said.
