Shettima spoke at the APC presidential campaign rally at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Cross River State, where he also urged Nigerians to assess the government’s policies against the country’s condition when Tinubu assumed office in 2023.
While appealing for renewed electoral support, Shettima said that the emerging results from the reforms have offered reasons to sustain the process.
The vice president argued that national transformation requires leaders willing to confront difficult realities and make decisions with long-term consequences, even when such decisions initially cause discomfort.
He described Cross River State as a politically significant state whose support for the APC should translate into stronger federal engagement and development opportunities.
Shettima called on the electorate to renew the mandates of Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu, Deputy Governor Peter Odey and APC candidates contesting legislative seats in the 2027 elections.
He said the party is seeking another opportunity to continue its programmes, stressing that elected officials must return to the people with an account of their stewardship and plans that justify public trust.

Otu Highlights Federal Projects
Earlier, Governor Otu highlighted major federal projects which he said could reshape the state’s economic future, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport and the proposed location of the Gulf of Guinea Commission secretariat in Calabar.
Otu said the coastal highway would improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of goods and people, boost tourism and attract investments, while the proposed deep seaport could establish Cross River State as an international maritime gateway and create employment opportunities.
He also identified the proposed Gulf of Guinea Commission secretariat as a potential driver of international engagement, hospitality, tourism and commercial activities in the state.
The governor maintained that Cross River State must translate its political relevance into concrete development gains, urging residents to support the APC at all levels in 2027.
Yilwatda Promises Export Industries
Speaking also, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described President Tinubu as an agent of change, a transformer of the economy of Nigeria and a pillar who is committed to connecting Calabar to other countries and states through the deep seaport and the superhighway.
While also describing Calabar, Cross River State, as the home of the economy of Nigeria, the APC national chairman promised that the next administration, if voted into power again, will build industries for export in Cross River State.
