Obi made the pledge while addressing supporters at a town hall meeting in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, where he outlined his proposed priorities for national development, including emergency measures in agriculture, healthcare and the power sector.
He maintained that Nigeria can make significant progress if public resources were managed transparently and responsibly, warning that public officials who misappropriate government funds would face the law.
According to him, accountability must begin at the highest level of government, insisting that the president and members of his family must not interfere with public funds.
“If the president, his wife and children are not touching our money, everything will be alright,” he said.
Education, Agriculture, Health And Power
On education, the former Anambra State governor expressed concern over Nigeria’s estimated 17 million out-of-school children, pledging to address the challenge through deliberate government policies and improved access to education.
He also promised to declare a state of emergency in agriculture to maximise the country’s vast arable land, support farmers and boost food production for domestic consumption and export.
In the health sector, Obi said his administration would work towards ensuring that every political ward in the country has a functional primary healthcare centre to improve access to essential medical services.
He identified electricity as another critical area requiring urgent intervention, arguing that Nigeria has the capacity to generate and transmit adequate power if the sector was properly managed.

‘I Asked You To Send Me’
Obi said his decision to seek the presidency is informed by his understanding of the country’s challenges and his determination to provide solutions rather than blame others for the nation’s difficulties.
“I am not saying these things so that I will come and be blaming somebody. You never asked me to contest; I am the one who asked you to send me.
“By the time I was looking for the job, I said that I knew the problems of this country and I would change it,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to assess his presidential ambition based on his proposed solutions to the country’s challenges, stressing the need for purposeful leadership, prudent management of public resources and improved delivery of essential services.
In separate remarks, the NDC candidates for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Mrs. Beatrice Eze, and Abakaliki North State Constituency, Mr. Goodman Okorie, urged supporters to remain law-abiding.
They expressed optimism that the country is ready for a new approach to governance, anchored on accountability, transparency and responsible leadership.
