Grace Makun, the wife of celebrity fashion designer Yomi Casual, has shared an emotional account of the pain her husband experienced while creating the final outfit worn by his late friend and Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo.
The actor was laid to rest on today, Thursday, June 18, 2026, in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, with family, friends, and colleagues paying their last respects.
Taking to her Instagram story, Grace revealed that making Alexx’s burial suit was the most difficult fashion assignment her husband had ever handled. She explained that the task became even more painful because of the close friendship between the two men.
According to her, Yomi Casual and Alexx Ekubo had always shared a playful bond whenever the actor needed an outfit. She recalled their usual conversations, where Yomi would tell Alexx that his clothes were ready and Alexx would jokingly respond that he was coming to the office to try them on.
However, Grace said the reality was heartbreaking when Yomi recently informed Alexx that his final outfit was ready, only to receive no response. Instead of seeing his friend come for a fitting as usual, the designer had to take the suit to the funeral home and personally dress Alexx for his final journey.
She wrote “Typical Yomi and Alex conversation… Yomi: ‘Ore, how far, your cloth don ready.’ Alex: ‘Ore, I dey come office come fit my cloth.’ Plenty insults follows.”
“Few days ago, Yomi: ‘Ore, your cloth is ready.’ Alex: No response. Yomi goes to funeral home to give his friend his final resting well-tailored suit.”
Grace expressed her heartbreak over the situation, questioning how her husband was expected to recover from such a painful experience.

She praised Yomi’s dedication and attention to detail, saying he ensured the outfit was exactly how Alexx would have wanted it. She added that the actor would have been proud of the final result.
“You kept on saying to me, ‘Babe, Alex go vex for me if that suit no come out well.’ You finally felt that sense of honour to see him looking so dapper in that suit one last time, even with so much pain and grief in your eyes,” she wrote.
Grace described the past weeks as extremely difficult for her husband and prayed for strength as he continues to mourn his close friend.
The emotional tribute has since touched many fans, with several people reacting to the bond shared between Yomi Casual and Alexx Ekubo.
