The programme is being implemented under the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ARIN) Project, a World Bank-funded government initiative designed to improve nutrition outcomes across Nigeria.

Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the programme’s integrated approach, particularly its focus on health, nutrition and agriculture.

He stressed that achieving sustainable nutrition outcomes would require effective coordination and interventions across the three sectors.

The governor appreciated the Federal Government and the World Bank for their continued partnership and support for the people of Adamawa State.

Fintiri directed relevant ministries, departments, agencies and project implementation units to cooperate fully with the mission team by providing accurate information and promptly addressing issues identified during the assessment.

He also urged the mission to engage with state implementation teams and communities to assess the programme’s progress, identify challenges and determine measures required to improve implementation.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and National Project Manager of the ARIN Project, Dr Dogara Okara, said Adamawa was among the states selected to benefit from the World Bank-supported programme.

Okara explained that the project was designed to improve nutrition outcomes by increasing access to quality and cost-effective nutrition commodities for pregnant and lactating women, children under five and adolescents.

He said the health component would provide commodities including lipid-based nutrition supplements, ready-to-use therapeutic food, albendazole, F75, F100 and micronutrient powders.

According to Okara, the agricultural component would provide equipment, seeds, seedlings, livestock and other interventions aimed at strengthening nutrition-sensitive agriculture.

He disclosed that the first batch of health and agricultural commodities was expected to arrive in Adamawa from October.

The delegation also assessed storage facilities across the state to determine whether they could meet the required temperature and storage conditions for the commodities.

The National Project Manager expressed confidence that Adamawa State was adequately prepared to receive and effectively utilise the commodities under the programme.
