Family confirms Alexx Ekubo’s death after battle with kidney cancer

The family of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially confirmed his passing, following a battle with terminal kidney cancer.

In a statement shared via the actor’s Instagram account on Wednesday, the family disclosed that the actor died at Evercare Hospital after suffering complications linked to advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the statement read in part.

According to the family, the actor fought the illness with courage, faith, and hope throughout his final days.

“After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer,” the statement added.

The family described his final moments as a period marked by resilience and spirituality, noting that he remained hopeful despite the severity of his condition.

They also appealed to the public for prayers and privacy as they mourn the actor’s loss, stating that funeral arrangements would be announced later.

“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss,” the statement concluded.

The death of the 40-year-old actor has continued to trigger emotional reactions across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with colleagues, fans, and celebrities paying tribute to his legacy and impact in Nollywood.
