Key Highlights:

  • Uzor Arukwe said he stayed silent after the death of Alexx Ekubo because he was struggling with grief.
  • He explained that mourning is personal and cannot always be expressed immediately.
  • Arukwe described Ekubo as kind, humble, and compassionate.
  • He said silence should not be mistaken for indifference.
  • The tribute highlighted Ekubo’s positive impact on colleagues and fans.

According to him, the news of Ekubo’s passing came as a profound shock, leaving him struggling to articulate his grief.

The actor said some losses are so painful that they cannot be expressed instantly, noting that mourning is a deeply personal experience that differs from one individual to another.

Recalling their first encounter on a movie set, Arukwe described Ekubo as a warm, humble and compassionate person who treated colleagues and acquaintances with genuine kindness and respect.

He added that conversations with people who had known Ekubo more closely reinforced his belief that the late actor had positively influenced many lives through his character and generosity.

Reflecting on the legacy Ekubo leaves behind, Arukwe said people are ultimately remembered not only for their professional accomplishments but also for their humanity, values and the impact they have on those around them.

He stressed that his silence should not be interpreted as indifference, explaining that it was simply part of his personal grieving process.

“Some losses don’t meet you online first; they sit with you quietly. They make you shake your head and say, ‘Not this person. Not Alex,’” he wrote.

Describing the late actor as “a genuinely good man,” Arukwe said he would continue to honour Ekubo’s memory through prayers, cherished memories and the lasting place he occupies in his heart.

His tribute has resonated with fans and colleagues, many of whom have shared similar reflections on Ekubo’s personality, kindness and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
