The Enugu State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the killing of Chief Ikechukwu Oloto, a 53-year-old politician from Nsukka Local Government Area, who was found with suspected machete wounds at his residence in Odenigbo, Nsukka.
The police said Oloto, popularly known as Okanga Moo, was found in a pool of blood on Thursday, September 17, 2026, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The command has launched a manhunt for the suspected assailant or assailants.

According to the Enugu State Police Command spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, police operatives received a report at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday that a man had been found in a pool of blood at his residence.
Ndukwe said officers responded promptly and found Oloto with deep suspected machete cuts to his head and stomach.
He said the victim was taken to a hospital, where the attending doctor confirmed him dead.
The police spokesman added that Oloto’s remains had been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue.
The command has also launched a manhunt for the suspected assailant or assailants involved in the killing.
