The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to an alleged corruption scandal involving the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which the Presidency insists does not exist.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party urged President Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila to allow for an independent investigation into the allegations. It also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Nigeria Police Force to launch a full-scale probe.
The demands followed allegations by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims he served as Director-General of the PFIPC. The Presidency has dismissed Adeyemi’s claims, describing him as a fraudster and maintaining that the council is a non-existent agency.
According to the NDC, the controversy raises serious questions about transparency and accountability within the Tinubu administration. The party urged the President to establish an independent panel to investigate the alleged agency, its finances, staff approvals and related transactions.

It also called for the questioning of officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service over claims that the PFIPC allegedly operated government accounts despite being described as a non-existent agency.
The NDC further questioned allegations that the Office of the Head of the Civil Service approved 314 staff positions for the PFIPC and sought explanations on how such approvals could have been granted without the knowledge of the Presidency or the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The party also referenced Adeyemi’s allegation that he paid ₦600 million through intermediaries to secure his appointment, claiming ₦400 million had been paid while ₦200 million remained outstanding. It further cited allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s reported take-off grant, estimated at about ₦27.4 billion, an allegation Adeyemi claimed to have rejected.
In addition, the NDC expressed concern over the death of Babatunde Tanimola, identified as an intermediary in the matter, who reportedly died in a hotel fire in Abuja in October 2025. It also noted Adeyemi’s claims that he had survived multiple assassination attempts.
The party said the Presidency owes Nigerians a clear explanation over the allegations and insisted that anyone found culpable after investigation should be prosecuted.
It is important to note that the allegations remain unproven, while the Presidency has consistently denied the existence of the PFIPC and rejected the claims against its officials.
