Operatives of the Ipakodo division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected fraudster, who defrauds unsuspecting passengers through a scam technique called ‘money-in-the-boot.’
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday said the suspect was arrested on Friday 29, 2022 along Ipakodo road after one of his victims an alarm.
Hundeyin identified the suspect as Emmanuel Rolland, a 34-year-old male.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect confessed to having joined the illicit trade in January and was earlier arrested on his sixth outing.
He assured the public that other members of the gang and others involved in such fraudulent activities are being hunted by the police in the State.
Hundeyin said, “Officers of Ipakodo division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Emmanuel Rolland ‘m’ aged 34 for duping unsuspecting passengers.

“The suspect was arrested at about 1120hrs on Friday, July 29, 2022, along Ipakodo road after his victim raised the alarm.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect, alongside his conspirators (still at large) while operating in a Volkswagen Jetta saloon car, with
registration number JJJ 27 DG, disguised as driver and passengers, picked unsuspecting passengers, and started discussions about some money purportedly kept in the boot.
“The suspect confessed to having started this crime in January, adding that he was arrested on his sixth outing. Effort is in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and other perpetrators of such crime.”
Hundeyin further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, has directed that the case be transferred to the headquarters for further investigations and prosecution.
