The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), following complaints from candidates who were unable to access the platform for about a day.
Key Highlights
- JAMB confirms CAPS outage after candidates reported being unable to access the platform for about a day.
- Technical issues with the platform’s hosting arrangements were blamed for the disruption.
- JAMB is working with its hosting organisation to restore the Central Admissions Processing System.
- Candidates have reported access problems on X, including failed page loads, redirects and site-unavailable messages.
- The outage affects admission-related activities, including checking admission status and accepting offers.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Board attributed the disruption to technical challenges associated with the platform’s hosting arrangements, adding that it had commenced discussions with the hosting organisation to restore the system.
“JAMB wishes to inform candidates, institutions and all other users that the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is temporarily unavailable due to technical challenges associated with its hosting arrangements,” the statement read.
The Board said it was working to restore the platform to full functionality as quickly as possible, acknowledging the importance of CAPS, particularly during the ongoing admission exercise.
JAMB apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured candidates and other users that further updates would be provided as the situation develops.

The announcement followed complaints from candidates on social media, particularly on X, who reported difficulties accessing the platform since Wednesday. Some users said the website failed to load, while others reported being redirected or receiving messages indicating that the site was unavailable.
Several candidates also tagged JAMB’s official X account, @jamb_hq, seeking clarification and a resolution, with some noting that they needed the platform to check their admission status or accept admission offers.
CAPS is JAMB’s admission-processing platform, enabling candidates to view admission offers and complete related processes, including accepting or rejecting offers.
The disruption comes amid the 2026 admission exercise, during which candidates rely on the platform to monitor their admission status and complete necessary admission procedures.
