Candidates who have lost access to the phone numbers or email addresses linked to their JAMB profiles can now update their details through a new process introduced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Boarb (JAMB)
The development means candidates who can no longer use their registered SIM cards or access their registered email accounts will no longer have to remain locked out of important JAMB services because of the lost details.
JAMB announced the development in a video shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, outlining the procedure candidates must follow to request a SIM swap or email change.
According to the board, candidates who lost their SIM cards can now replace their registered numbers, while those who have lost access to their email addresses can also change them to new ones.
“Candidates who lost their SIM card can now swap it with a new one. And those who also lost access to their email addresses on the JAMB portal can now change to a new one,” the board said.
To begin the process, affected candidates are required to obtain a court affidavit from a High Court to support their request.
After obtaining the affidavit, the candidate must log into the JAMB e-Facility profile and select the “Penalties” option from the menu.
The candidate should then select “SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment” and pay the prescribed fee through the JAMB portal.
Following payment, the candidate is required to visit the nearest designated JAMB office to complete the process. However, JAMB said the service is available only at designated JAMB PTC/PRC Centres.

At the centre, the candidate will be required to provide their profile code and existing GSM number before undergoing biometric verification.
The board also said a scanned copy of the court affidavit will be uploaded as part of the process.
JAMB clarified that the service is specifically meant for candidates with genuine cases involving loss of access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses.
The board further warned that the service can only be accessed once, making it important for candidates to provide accurate information and ensure that the new contact details they submit are correct.
Candidates seeking to change their phone numbers or email addresses should therefore follow the approved procedure through the JAMB portal and visit a designated centre to complete the verification process.
