The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Deltans to unite across political, ethnic, religious and social divides as the state marks its 35th anniversary, saying collective efforts are needed to achieve greater development and prosperity.
The party made the call in a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, on Thursday, describing the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on Delta State’s journey and the contributions of individuals and institutions to its development.

Delta APC Reflects on 35 Years of Statehood
The APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, JP, said the anniversary should extend beyond celebration and provide an opportunity for Deltans to reflect on the state’s achievements and challenges while focusing on the future.
Arenyeka said Deltans had demonstrated resilience, creativity and determination in advancing the state since its creation.

“The 35th anniversary of Delta State is a celebration of our shared heritage, our collective resilience, and the enduring aspirations of our people,” he said.
The APC chairman said Delta State’s abundant natural resources could not, on their own, guarantee prosperity, stressing the importance of responsible resource management, economic opportunities and investment in future generations.
“The greatness of Delta State will not be defined merely by the abundance of its resources, but by the wisdom with which we harness them, the opportunities we create for our people, and the legacy we bequeath to generations yet unborn,” Arenyeka said.
APC Urges Deltans to Put Differences Aside
Arenyeka appealed to Deltans across political, ethnic, religious and social backgrounds to set aside their differences and work towards peace and development.
He also urged residents to support the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, saying cooperation among stakeholders was necessary to build a peaceful, economically vibrant and inclusive state.
According to him, government policies should prioritise citizens’ welfare, sustainable development and opportunities for young people.
The APC chairman said the Delta State of the future should be one where citizens feel a sense of belonging, merit and enterprise are rewarded, and development reaches communities across the state.
“Our collective responsibility is to build a Delta State where every citizen has a sense of belonging, where merit and enterprise are rewarded, where our young people can confidently look to the future, and where development reaches every community,” he said.
Party Congratulates Deltans
The Delta APC congratulated Deltans at home and abroad on the 35th anniversary, expressing confidence in the state’s ability to achieve greater progress.
The party also prayed for continued peace, unity and stronger bonds among the people, while wishing Delta State sustained growth and development in the years ahead.
