President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s period of economic hardship is coming to an end, stating that “the dark days are over and the light is here” in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians.

In the Sallah goodwill address, the president said the reforms introduced by his administration over the past three years are beginning to yield results, adding that the economy is now more stable and attractive to investors.

Key Highlights:

  • President Bola Tinubu said Nigeria’s economic hardship is easing, stating “the dark days are over and the light is here” in his Eid-el-Kabir message.
  • He credited ongoing reforms for improving economic stability and attracting investment.
  • Tinubu linked the Eid message to themes of sacrifice and urged Nigerians to remain patient with reforms.
  • He acknowledged ongoing insecurity but said security agencies are working to defeat criminal groups.
  • The message drew mixed reactions, with critics arguing it underplayed recent security challenges.
He linked the symbolism of sacrifice in Eid-el-Kabir to the economic reforms, urging citizens to remain patient and hopeful.

“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth.

“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu stated.

Tinubu also acknowledged that insecurity remains a challenge in parts of the country, noting that terrorist and bandit attacks have not completely stopped, but assuring Nigerians that security forces are working to defeat criminal groups.

However, the message has drawn mixed reactions, with some Nigerians arguing that the president focused heavily on optimism and economic recovery without directly addressing recent kidnappings and violent attacks reported in several states.

Critics say the absence of detailed comments on ongoing insecurity reflects growing public frustration over safety concerns.

In the full statement, the president maintained that despite security challenges, his administration remains committed to improving safety, expanding infrastructure, and sustaining economic reforms aimed at long-term growth.

As debates continue online, the Eid message highlights the tension between government assurances of progress and public concern over persistent insecurity across parts of the country.
