It was a bizarre scenario on Monday, 30th September, 2024, as a man who reportedly killed his own son and another nursing mother was set lynched and burned to death by angry mob.
The incident which happened in Evwreni community, Ughelli North Local Government Area, has left many in shock and disbelief.
The suspect, identified as Mr Samson, smashed his son to death, at about 2.am on the faithful day and further attacked and killed his neighbour, a nursing mother, simply identified as Princess, who was said to have come out with her infant to ease herself at about the same time.
A source who spoke on anonymous condition disclosed that Mr Samson had been behaving strangely and he was to be taken to a medical center for medications before the unfortunate incident occurred.
“He smashed his toddler son, macheted a woman who took her son out to the toilet to death and the youths in process of trying to apprehend him, he injured more persons trying to resist.
“After the incident, he was finally apprehended, beaten to stupor and his remains was set ablaze with his motorcycle.”
The Delta State Police Command is yet to release an official statement on the events, and messages to the Police Spokesman, SP Edafe Bright were not replied.
However a Senior police officer in the Ughelli Area Command, who confirmed the incident said, “Before our men could get to the scene, the suspect had been set ablaze.”
