As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence anniversary, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has made a passionate appeal for Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu in addressing the nation’s current challenges. Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in overcoming the country’s ongoing political and economic hurdles.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s history, Eno highlighted the nation’s resilience, from the Civil War to the economic difficulties of the 1970s and 1980s. He expressed optimism that, with a united front, Nigeria will overcome the challenges of today just as it has in the past.
“On behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, and indeed Nigerians across all six geopolitical zones, I extend heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Tinubu on Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary,” Eno said. “Our country has faced numerous trials in the course of nation-building, but we always triumph due to the indomitable spirit we share.”
Governor Eno called on Nigerians to adopt a spirit of patriotism and work in unity with President Tinubu to lift the nation out of its current economic downturn. He stressed the importance of promoting unity, avoiding blame games, and focusing on collective success.
“We’ve overcome before, and we will do it again,” Eno asserted. “Let’s celebrate our unity in diversity, embrace ideals that bring us together, and resist the urge to divide ourselves. We can only succeed together or fail together.”

He also urged Nigerians to look out for the less fortunate, emphasizing the need for collective growth over individual prosperity. Governor Eno commended Nigerian youths for their resilience during difficult times and assured them of brighter days ahead.
“Let’s extend a helping hand to those at the bottom of the ladder and work towards the collective fulfillment of our governance blueprint—the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda.”
In a solemn moment, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, offered prayers for the governor and his family as they mourn the loss of the governor’s wife, Late Mrs. Patience Umo Eno. Etiebet also led intercessory prayers for the nation, while Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi and other government officials joined in cutting the Independence anniversary cake to mark the occasion.
