Former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, has expressed sadness over the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who reportedly died while in the captivity of bandits.

Reacting to the incident, Ahmad described the tragedy as a painful reminder of the security challenges facing Nigeria, saying it was heartbreaking that a man who spent years defending the country became a victim of insecurity.
He said the death of the retired general should not be treated as just another casualty but as a call for stronger action against banditry and those responsible for attacks across the country.
Ahmad also prayed for the repose of Abubakar’s soul, asking God to grant his family comfort and bring lasting peace and security to Nigeria.
Reacting via his X handle, Bashir wrote: ’The tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar in the captivity of bandits is a heartbreaking national tragedy and a stark reminder of the urgent security challenges facing our country.
“It is disturbing that a man who dedicated his life to serving and defending Nigeria could become a victim of banditry.
