The aspiration of the National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for Ughelli North Constituency II, Mr. Umukoro Innocent, to represent the constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly has received royal backing from the traditional institution in Uwheru Kingdom.
Simpson Sapele Obruche II, the Odion r’Ode of Uwheru, gave his endorsement and blessing to the candidate when Umukoro visited the palace to formally seek the monarch’s counsel and support ahead of the election.
Umukoro, an indigene of Uwheru Kingdom, used the consultation visit to present his legislative ambition and outline his vision for effective representation of the people of Ughelli North Constituency II.
He said his decision to contest is motivated by the desire to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation, with emphasis on youth and women empowerment, education, infrastructure, economic opportunities and sustainable community development.
The NDP candidate also pledged to remain accessible to the people and sustain consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders if elected, assuring that the needs and aspirations of his constituents would remain at the centre of his legislative agenda.

Receiving Umukoro, the Odion r’Ode commended him for recognising the importance of the traditional institution and seeking its counsel before embarking fully on his political journey.
The monarch subsequently endorsed the aspiration and offered prayers for Umukoro’s success, asking God to guide him, grant him wisdom and favour, and see him through the political process.
He urged the candidate to remain humble, focused and committed to the people, stressing that public office should be approached as an opportunity to serve rather than a platform for personal gain.
The royal endorsement is expected to further strengthen Umukoro’s ongoing consultations and grassroots engagement as he seeks the mandate to represent Ughelli North Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly.
