The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, opening applications for qualified Nigerians to fill entry-level vacancies across several professional and administrative cadres.

According to the commission, the online application portal became active on Monday, July 20, and will remain open until Monday, July 27, 2026.
INEC said the recruitment exercise is part of efforts to strengthen its workforce and improve its capacity in critical areas such as election management, voter registration, logistics, information technology and data administration.
Interested applicants are required to submit their applications exclusively through the commission’s official recruitment portal by creating an account, completing the online application form and uploading all required documents.
The electoral commission emphasised that the recruitment process is completely free and cautioned applicants against paying money to any individual or organisation claiming to facilitate employment.
It also warned that anyone found submitting false information or forged documents would be disqualified and could face prosecution.
The commission announced openings under three major categories; professional cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12).
The available positions include, accountant, clinical officer, lawyer, ICT Officer, engineer and quantity surveyor.
It said applicants for these positions must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.

Candidates with master’s degrees in related fields may also apply where applicable.
In addition, applicants are expected to possess relevant professional certifications such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, depending on the position applied for.
They must also have at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, as well as sound analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills.
For the administrative officer II (registration area officer Grade Level 08), INEC stated that candidates applying for this position must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the sciences, social sciences or humanities.
Applicants are also required to present a valid NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate and demonstrate competence in data management, record keeping and the use of Microsoft Office applications and other digital tools.
For the executive officer (Registration Officer Grade Level 07), the commission said applicants must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
Furthermore, they are expected to demonstrate basic computer proficiency, data management skills and strong communication and organisational abilities.
Also, INEC stated that all applicants must satisfy the following conditions: Present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government area, be certified medically fit by a government medical officer, be no older than 35 years at the time of application, have no criminal record and possess good character, be willing to work in any part of Nigeria if employed, and demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
The commission advised interested candidates to complete their applications through the official recruitment portal by following these steps:
Visit the INEC recruitment portal. Create an applicant profile using a valid email address, personal details and National Identification Number (NIN) and verify the registered email address.
Log into the portal and select the preferred cadre and available vacancy, upload all required documents, including a passport photograph, birth certificate or age declaration, O’Level result, degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable.
Review all information before submitting the application.
INEC noted that applicants cannot change their selected position after submission and advised candidates to carefully review their choices before completing the process.
The commission added that only candidates who meet the requirements and are successfully shortlisted will be invited to participate in the subsequent stages of the recruitment exercise.
