The Director of Media and Publicity of the Senator Emmanuel Bwacha Campaign Council, Sulaiman Ahmed, has criticised the administration of Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, alleging poor performance in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and other sectors.
Ahmed, in a statement, said the optimism that accompanied Kefas’ election in 2023 has been replaced by what he described as widespread disappointment among residents of the state.
He alleged that Tarabans have experienced serious deprivation in basic infrastructure and social services over the past three and a half years, despite what he claimed was the inflow of nearly N2 trillion into the state’s coffers.
The campaign spokesman cited a recent viral video purportedly showing the condition of a Primary Health Care Centre in Jibu, Wukari Local Government Council, as an example of what he described as the poor state of healthcare facilities across the state.
He further alleged that many primary healthcare centres, as well as specialist hospitals in the state, were poorly equipped and inadequately funded, contributing to challenges in maternal and child healthcare.
Ahmed also raised concerns over alleged withdrawal of support by some international development partners, claiming that the development was linked to the state government’s alleged failure to provide counterpart funding for programmes covering child nutrition, primary healthcare, agriculture and education.
According to him, the situation was particularly concerning in view of child malnutrition in the state.
He cited a figure of 45.5 percent for severe malnutrition among children under five, while claiming that neighbouring North-East states had continued to benefit from donor-supported interventions.
The campaign council also criticised what it described as the state government’s response to the federal government’s Compressed Natural Gas and electric transit initiatives aimed at reducing transportation costs amid rising living expenses.
Ahmed said some states have begun implementing the programmes, while accusing the Taraba State government of not doing enough to take advantage of the initiatives to ease transportation costs for residents.
He said the concerns form part of the reasons the Bwacha Campaign Council is opposed to another term for Governor Kefas.
The council alleged corruption, incompetence and mismanagement under the present administration, but did not provide independent evidence in the statement to substantiate the allegations.

It consequently called on Tarabans to support Senator Emmanuel Bwacha in the 2027 governorship election, promising that a Bwacha administration would seek to restore partnerships with international development organisations and ensure timely counterpart funding for programmes across various sectors.
The council said such measures would improve access to healthcare, education, agriculture and other social services in the state.
Ahmed urged residents to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process, describing the campaign as a call for what the council characterised as transparency and efficiency in governance.
