Continuous Voter Registration: INEC Registers 2.43 Million Nigerians as Kaduna Tops Nationwide CVR Exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 2,436,275 eligible Nigerians have successfully registered in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of July 10, 2026, with Kaduna State recording the highest number of new registrants across the country.

According to the Phase III, Week Nine registration statistics released by the electoral commission, the total registrations comprise 823,324 completed online applications and 1,612,951 physical registrations processed across the federation.

Key Highlights

  • INEC registered 2,436,275 eligible voters under the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
  • The total comprises 823,324 online registrations and 1,612,951 physical registrations.
  • Kaduna State recorded the highest number of registrants with 182,749 voters.
  • Edo, Lagos and Delta ranked among the top four states in voter registration.
  • Voter registration remains suspended in Osun State ahead of its governorship election.
  • INEC urged Nigerians to register only through its official CVR platforms and accredited registration centres.

Kaduna Leads Nationwide Registration

The latest data showed that Kaduna State topped the registration chart with 182,749 newly registered voters.

 

It was followed by:

Edo – 121,554

Lagos – 114,983

Delta – 108,547

Taraba – 94,432

Sokoto – 91,207

Ebonyi – 84,118

Jigawa – 79,837

Bauchi – 77,881

Benue – 76,442

Ogun – 75,633

Cross River – 75,131

Anambra and Oyo states each recorded more than 71,000 registrations during the reporting period, while Imo State registered 70,087 voters.

States With Lowest Registrations

INEC’s report also showed significant disparities in registration figures across states.

At the lower end of the table:

Ekiti recorded 84 registrations.

Ondo registered 14,407 voters.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded 33,288 registrations.

Akwa Ibom posted 35,196 registrations.

Rivers State recorded 52,710 new voters.

Osun CVR Suspended Ahead of Governorship Election

The electoral commission explained that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise remains suspended in Osun State in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, owing to the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

 

According to INEC, the suspension is a statutory requirement aimed at protecting the integrity and credibility of the electoral process ahead of the poll.

INEC Warns Against Unofficial Registration Platforms

INEC advised eligible Nigerians yet to register to complete the process only through its official Continuous Voter Registration platforms and designated registration centres nationwide.

 

The commission also warned members of the public against using unofficial channels or relying on misinformation regarding the voter registration exercise.
