The Mayor of Yenagoa City Council, Bulodisiye Ndiwari, has facilitated the reunion of a woman, Mrs. Joy Izibevie Obugu, with her family after more than 30 years of separation.
Mrs. Obugu, a native of Ogu Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area and elder sister of the Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ogu Community, His Highness Obugu Mission, had been out of contact with her family for three decades, leaving relatives unaware of her whereabouts.
Hope of finding her family was rekindled when two compassionate Nigerians from Ogun State, Mr. Olusegun Adenaike and Nurse Bukola Adenaike Sodiya, discovered Mrs. Obugu and took it upon themselves to reconnect her with her roots.
Their determined efforts to trace her family eventually led them to the Mayor of Yenagoa City, Bulodisiye Ndiwari.
Upon receiving the information, the mayor promptly intervened and ensured that all necessary arrangements were made for Mrs. Obugu’s safe return to Bayelsa State.

He personally sponsored the process and provided the support required to make her journey home possible.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Mr. and Mrs. Adenaike successfully brought Mrs. Obugu to Yenagoa, where an emotional reunion with her family took place.
During a formal handover ceremony at the mayor’s office, Ndiwari officially handed Mrs. Obugu over to the member representing Yenagoa Constituency I in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ayibanegiyefa Egba, alongside members of her family and loved ones.
The reunion was marked by joy, gratitude and thanksgiving as relatives celebrated the return of their beloved sister after three decades of separation.
The mayor’s gesture has drawn commendation from residents and community leaders, who described it as a demonstration of compassionate and people-oriented leadership.
The successful reunion stands as a testament to the power of kindness, persistence and collective effort in restoring hope and bringing families back together.
