A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has adjourned the bail application filed by activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to June 30, 2026.
Justice Mohammed Umar fixed the date on Wednesday after lawyers representing both the defence and prosecution adopted their arguments in the application seeking the restoration of Sowore’s bail.
Sowore is asking the court to reverse the earlier decision revoking his bail and to set aside the bench warrant issued against him following his failure to appear for his trial.
The activist is currently being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS) over allegations bordering on cybercrime and criminal defamation.

The charges reportedly stem from social media posts in which Sowore allegedly referred to President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal” on his X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook accounts.
The court had earlier revoked his bail on June 16 and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Following his subsequent appearance before the court, Justice Umar ordered that he be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his application.
The development has generated reactions among supporters, rights advocates and political observers, with attention now focused on the court’s decision expected on June 30.
Sowore’s legal battle will continue from custody until the court delivers its ruling on whether his bail will be restored.
