INEC ad hoc recruitment portal closes November 18

INEC opened its Personnel Recruitment System for people interested in supporting the 2027 general elections. The application window began at 8:00 a.m. on September 18 and is scheduled to close at midnight on November 18, according to the commission’s official INECPRES registration portal.

The recruitment covers temporary election personnel who will support polling operations, coordination and technical work. The positions listed for the exercise include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) personnel.

Who can apply for each position?

INEC sets different requirements for each category, so an applicant’s eligibility depends on the role selected. The categories are intended for groups that include serving NYSC members, eligible students of recognised tertiary institutions, qualified public servants, eligible school or institution staff for RAC Manager roles, and applicants with relevant technical or ICT qualifications for RATECH.

Applicants should confirm their employment status, education and other qualifications against the requirements for their preferred position before submitting an application. The commission’s full guidelines and any category-specific conditions should be checked through INEC’s official recruitment channels.

How to complete an application

Interested applicants should use the INECPRES web portal or an application channel linked from INEC’s official website. They should select the category for which they qualify, enter their details carefully and complete the steps shown in the portal before the deadline.

Applicants are advised to avoid waiting until the final hours to submit their details. They should rely on official INEC announcements for any updates to the timetable or application instructions.

INEC’s recruitment exercise is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections. The commission is engaging temporary personnel for duties that will support the conduct of the polls across the country.
