  • ADC chieftain Eze Chukwuemeka Eze calls Tinubu’s presidency the costliest political mistake since 1999.
  • He backed Rotimi Amaechi’s remark that no sane Nigerian would vote for the APC in 2027.
  • Eze accused the administration of worsening insecurity, hardship, corruption and unemployment.
  • He claimed Tinubu focused on re-election from his May 29, 2023 inaugural speech.
  • Eze urged Nigerians to mobilise against the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Eze said Nigerians made a grave mistake by allowing Tinubu to assume office in 2023, accusing his administration of worsening insecurity, economic hardship, corruption, unemployment and poverty across the country.

The ADC chieftain also declared that only those insensitive to the sufferings of Nigerians would vote for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Eze backs Amaechi’s comments

Eze made the remarks in a statement issued on Wednesday, while expressing support for comments by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who recently said that no sane Nigerian would vote for the APC in the 2027 elections.

Eze, a long-time ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Amaechi, described the president as one of Nigeria’s most underperforming leaders since the country’s return to democracy.

He accused Tinubu of prioritising his political ambition and possible re-election over addressing the country’s mounting challenges.

“Right from the day of his inaugural speech as the 16th president of Nigeria, on May 29, 2023, every right-thinking Nigerian knew that Tinubu had set his eyes on re-election and a possible third term rather than settle down to offer purposeful leadership and direction,” he said.

Questioning why Nigerians would support the president for another term, Eze alleged that the administration has failed to provide solutions to the country’s worsening economic and security challenges.

“Is it not only a mad man or a thief that will vote a President and a party that do not have any solution to the hydra-headed challenges facing Nigeria in 2027?” he asked.

He listed insecurity, corruption, nepotism, banditry, kidnapping, hunger, deprivation and unemployment among the major problems confronting Nigerians under Tinubu’s administration.

Eze further accused the president of showing little concern about the suffering of citizens, alleging that his policies and governance approach had damaged the country’s economy and international reputation.

“Honestly, without sentiment, Tinubu’s presidency is the worst and costliest mistake ever made by Nigerians. We have never had it this bad before, and it will certainly take a long period for the country to recover from this national calamity called Tinubu presidency,” he said.

The ADC chieftain also recalled Tinubu’s May 29, 2023 inaugural address, claiming that Nigerians had been given early indications that the country was heading in the wrong direction.

“From Tinubu’s inaugural speech, Nigerians with discerning minds knew that the country had boarded a ‘one chance’ vehicle,” he added.

He subsequently urged Nigerians to mobilise against the APC and vote Tinubu out of office in the 2027 general elections.
