A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has described the administration of President Bola Tinubu as the worst democratic government Nigeria has had since the return to democracy in 1999.
In a statement on Wednesday, Eze criticised the Tinubu administration over what he described as worsening economic hardship, insecurity, poverty, poor governance and declining living standards, while urging Nigerians to vote out the ruling administration in the 2027 general elections.

ADC Chieftain Criticises Tinubu Administration
While congratulating Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence anniversary on October 1, 2026, Eze said the occasion had been overshadowed by what he described as poverty, insecurity, poor governance and leadership failure.
According to him, an independence anniversary should provide an opportunity to celebrate Nigeria’s past leaders and heroes who contributed to the country’s independence.
He, however, argued that the country’s current situation had made it difficult for Nigerians to celebrate the gains of independence.
Eze described President Tinubu as a good politician but alleged that he had failed in democratic governance and people-oriented leadership.
Eze Blames Tinubu Government For Economic Hardship
The ADC chieftain said the economic difficulties facing Nigerians had worsened under the Tinubu administration, accusing the government of failing to protect citizens from the impact of rising prices.
“It is sad and unfortunate that the little things we as a country would have loved to celebrate, have been demystified by the government of Tinubu, thereby submerging Nigeria in the murky waters of economic woes and bad governance,” Eze said.
He also criticised the government over its borrowing activities, alleging that the rising debt burden could place an unfair burden on future generations.
“Instead of celebrating independence, Nigerians are celebrating enslavement by Tinubu through huge and unprecedented borrowing of foreign loans that even our grandchildren may be incapable of repaying,” he said.
ADC Chieftain Raises Concern Over Insecurity
Eze also accused the Tinubu administration of failing to adequately tackle the country’s security challenges.
He cited banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, insurgency and communal violence as some of the threats continuing to affect Nigerians and put communities under pressure.
The ADC chieftain said the country had experienced serious governance challenges under previous administrations but argued that the situation had deteriorated since Tinubu assumed office.
He attributed the socio-economic, political, security and infrastructural challenges confronting the country to what he described as the administration’s “myopic and impaired mission.”

Eze Criticises Tinubu’s Political Leadership
Eze also questioned the direction of the Tinubu administration, arguing that the President assumed office without adequately addressing the expectations of Nigerians.
“What do you expect from a man that stepped into governance on a wrong footing? On the day of his ill-fated inauguration, rather than give Nigerians hope and direction, Tinubu’s preoccupation was how to rule Nigeria for eight years and possibly actualize a third term ambition,” he said.
Eze’s statement criticised the President’s political leadership while also alleging that the administration had prioritised political considerations over the welfare of Nigerians.
Rising Cost Of Living Puts Pressure On Nigerians
The ADC chieftain further alleged that the Tinubu administration had pushed the cost of living to crisis levels, citing rising prices of food, transportation, housing and other essential goods and services.
He said declining purchasing power and what he described as hyperinflation had made it increasingly difficult for many Nigerians to meet their basic needs.
Eze argued that the economic situation had contributed to worsening poverty and reduced the ability of households to cope with everyday expenses.
ADC Calls For Political Change In 2027
Eze concluded by calling on Nigerians to use the 2027 general elections to change the country’s political leadership.
He urged voters to reject President Tinubu and what he described as his “foot soldiers” at the polls.
The statement reflects the ADC’s broader criticism of the Federal Government as political parties and opposition groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
