Tiv youths across Taraba State have thrown their weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Danjuma Usman Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The youths, under the aegis of Taraba Tiv Youth Grassroots Mobilisation for APGA, also endorsed candidates of the party contesting various elective positions in the state.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the coordinator of the group, Muyee Ioreren, following what he described as extensive consultations with Tiv communities across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Ioreren said the consultations revealed a strong willingness among Tiv youths and communities across the state to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process and contribute to determining the state’s political future.
He explained that Shiddi emerged as the preferred candidate based on what the group described as his leadership capacity, integrity, grassroots appeal and commitment to inclusive governance and youth development.
The group described the APGA flagbearer as “a leader with capacity, integrity, and a proven commitment to inclusive governance and youth development.”
According to Ioreren, the endorsement is not a spontaneous political declaration but the product of engagements and consultations with Tiv communities across Taraba.
He said the group would now commence grassroots mobilisation for Shiddi and other APGA candidates, with plans to reach out to communities and young people across the state as political activities gather momentum.
The youths said their decision was driven by the need to support candidates they believe could provide responsive, accountable and people-oriented governance.

They also called on Tiv youths across the state to take an active interest in the electoral process, stressing that young people have an important role to play in shaping the political direction of Taraba in 2027.
The endorsement comes against the backdrop of increasing political activities, consultations and realignments among political parties, aspirants and community-based groups ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group said it would sustain its grassroots engagement in support of Shiddi and other APGA candidates, expressing optimism that the mobilisation would strengthen the party’s appeal among ethnic and regional communities across the state.
It further maintained that increased participation by Tiv youths and other young people would promote a more inclusive and participatory electoral process in the forthcoming elections.
