Vice President Kashim Shettima has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 as “non-negotiable” for Nigeria’s prosperity and national unity, while urging northern creative professionals to support the administration’s second-term bid.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, during a meeting with a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the Triple-R For Renewed Hope group at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja. He appealed to the group to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Shettima Calls Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Non-Negotiable
Shettima said northern stakeholders should support Tinubu’s second-term bid, linking the president’s continued leadership to the administration’s economic and development agenda.
The Vice President urged members of the creative industry to remain committed to the government and the APC, saying the benefits of ongoing reforms would become more evident with time.
He also said the Federal Government would continue to introduce interventions designed to support artists, filmmakers and musicians in the North.
The comments are consistent with Shettima’s broader campaign for support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid. In May, he formally submitted Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the APC and called on party members to back the president’s second-term ambition.
Northern Creative Professionals Asked to Support Tinubu
The Vice President said northern creative professionals could benefit from government initiatives aimed at developing Nigeria’s creative economy.
He highlighted the potential of the sector to empower young people, preserve cultural heritage and create employment and business opportunities.
Shettima therefore appealed for reciprocal support from stakeholders in the creative industry as the administration continues to implement its Renewed Hope Agenda.
Yari Says Tinubu’s Record Will Drive 2027 Campaign
Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, also addressed the gathering.
Yari said the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election would be based on the administration’s record and achievements rather than rhetoric. He also rejected claims of northern exclusion from federal appointments and projects.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council was constituted in August, with Tinubu serving as chairman, Shettima as vice chairman and Yari as Director-General.

Masari Commends Northern Artists
Former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari commended the artists for their commitment to supporting APC candidates, including Tinubu.
Masari said government policies were already creating opportunities for the creative sector and encouraged professionals to take advantage of available initiatives.
Ganduje Calls for Support for Northern Artists
APC National Chairman and former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also thanked the Triple-R For Renewed Hope group for its support.
Ganduje described the group as an organic support platform and urged its members to promote justice, fairness and inclusiveness.
He also called for greater attention to infrastructure and training for northern artistes to strengthen the region’s creative industry.
Triple-R Pledges Support for Tinubu in 2027
The President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Alhaji Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates across the North.
Rarara described the group’s support as organic and said professionals within the northern film industry were united behind the APC.
National Chairman Alhaji Lawan Ahmad and Secretary Alhaji Ahmad Bifa also reiterated the group’s commitment while calling for greater federal support for the northern creative industry.
Their requests included improved infrastructure, welfare programmes and better working conditions for creative professionals.
APC Steps Up 2027 Mobilisation
The Abuja meeting is part of the wider political mobilisation taking place ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC has increasingly engaged different professional and interest groups as it seeks to build support for Tinubu’s second-term bid. In September, the State House also reported political mobilisation efforts involving groups supporting the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
Shettima’s latest appeal to northern creative professionals therefore adds another dimension to the party’s mobilisation strategy, with the creative sector being positioned as an important constituency ahead of the 2027 polls.
