The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for allegedly operating an unlicensed medical facility and treating patients without the qualifications or licence required to practise medicine.
Benjamin was arrested on October 2 at Life Is Good Hospital in the Olodo area of Ibadan after operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit reportedly received intelligence about his activities.

Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged Unlicensed Medical Practice
According to the police, Benjamin was found attending to patients and administering treatments despite allegedly not being a licensed medical practitioner.
The command said the suspect was particularly involved in treating fertility-related conditions, raising concerns about the potential risks to patients seeking medical care for sensitive reproductive health issues.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
Police Recover Medical Equipment, Drugs
During the operation, police said they recovered two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, a stethoscope, a carton of assorted medicines and specimen bottles.
The items were reportedly recovered from the facility where Benjamin was allegedly attending to patients.
The police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had allegedly operated as a quack practitioner for about seven years.
According to the police statement, Benjamin allegedly admitted that he had been practising without being a medical doctor or possessing a licence to practise medicine.
The police further alleged that he told investigators that he specialised in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility.

Police Warn Residents Against Unqualified Medical Practitioners
The Oyo State Police Command expressed concern over the potential danger posed by unqualified individuals who provide medical services, particularly in specialised areas such as fertility treatment.
Police authorities advised residents to verify the professional qualifications and registration status of individuals offering medical services before seeking treatment.
Residents were also urged to report suspicious medical facilities and individuals claiming to be medical practitioners without verifiable credentials to the police or relevant regulatory authorities.
Investigation Ongoing
Olayinka said investigation into the matter was ongoing, adding that detectives were working to establish the full scope of the suspect’s alleged activities and determine whether other individuals were connected to the operation.
The police said appropriate legal action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
The allegations against Benjamin remain subject to investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.
