The Anambra State Police Command in the early hours of Wednesday arrested a 16-year-old armed robbery suspect, Udochukwu Nwankwo, in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, he said police officers while on patrol, arrested Nwankwo and recovered a shiny metallic lighter designed in the semblance of a pistol.
According to Ikenga, the suspect allegedly used the object to threaten and dispossess victims of their valuables.
Ikenga said preliminary information revealed that the suspect, alongside two other accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly attacked a guest at a hotel in the area and snatched her mobile phone and other personal belongings.

He said that during interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to using the recovered object to threaten victims during the robbery.
Ikenga said that following the development, the command has intensified its investigation and ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, recover the stolen phone and other valuables, and bring all those found culpable to justice.
