Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is heading for victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election as sorting and counting of votes continue across the state.
Davido, who openly campaigned for his uncle during the electioneering campaign, made the declaration in a series of posts on social media on Saturday, as results began emerging from polling units.
The singer also mocked the All Progressives Congress after claiming that the party lost the polling unit of former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande.
“Their group chat don scatter! Baba Akande lost his ward. Gov Adeleke is cruising to victory. Shame APC. Osun no be Edo!” Davido wrote.
His comment came as political parties and supporters waited anxiously for the Independent National Electoral Commission to complete the sorting, counting and collation of votes from the governorship election.
Davido also called on residents to remain vigilant throughout the night, alleging that there were plans to frustrate the electoral process.
“I implore Osun people to stay vigilant all night and resist plans of Oyetola. Na we get Osogbo! Imole ti woleeeee,” he stated, referring to former governor and prominent APC figure, Gboyega Oyetola.
In another post, the singer expressed confidence that Governor Adeleke would emerge victorious and urged security agencies not to leave electoral locations.
“We are winning, guys! Security agencies shouldn’t be withdrawn from electoral units,” he wrote.
The development came shortly after voting ended across Osun State, with INEC officials commencing the sorting and counting of ballots at polling units.
As results continued to be uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, attention shifted to the emerging figures from the state’s 3,763 polling units.
Earlier reports indicated that results from 1,695 polling units had been uploaded to the portal, although the electoral commission had not officially declared a winner at the time of the report.
The election had witnessed strong confidence from the major contenders, with Adeleke, the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, all expressing optimism about their chances.

Adeleke had declared confidence in victory after casting his ballot at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area.
Oyebamiji also expressed confidence after voting at Ward 09, Unit 011, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, Salaam raised concerns over the alleged non-recognition of some ADC agents at several polling locations across the state.
With collation still ongoing, Davido’s declaration that Adeleke was “cruising to victory” remained a political claim and not an official election result.
The final outcome of the closely watched Osun governorship election will be determined by INEC after the completion of the collation process and the formal declaration of the winner.
