There was jubilation in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday, after Governor Ademola Adeleke won his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election.
Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, secured 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, where he cast his ballot earlier in the day.
His supporters erupted in celebration shortly after the result was announced at the polling unit.
The governor had earlier expressed confidence that he would win the election while speaking after voting at the unit.
Adeleke urged voters across the state to remain peaceful, protect their votes and participate actively in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also expressed optimism about victory after casting his vote at Ward 09, Unit 011, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, however, raised concerns over the alleged non-recognition of his party agents in several parts of the state.
The election subsequently moved into the sorting and collation stage as results from polling units continued to emerge.
As of 5:24pm on Saturday, 1,386 out of the 3,763 polling unit results had been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Result Viewing portal.
The final outcome of the election will be determined after the completion of collation and declaration by INEC.
