Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has urged officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deploy the front camera on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) whenever the device’s other camera develops a fault during the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Davido made the call in a post on his X account on Saturday, August 15, 2026, as voters across the state participated in the governorship poll.
The singer said the front camera on the BVAS remained functional and could be used to facilitate voter accreditation when the other camera was not working.
“If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!” Davido wrote.
His intervention came amid reports of technical challenges involving BVAS devices at some polling units during the election.
The BVAS is one of the key technologies deployed by INEC to authenticate voters through fingerprint and facial recognition before they are allowed to cast their ballots. The device is also used for other election-related functions.
The Osun governorship election is being conducted across the state, with voters choosing the next governor among candidates fielded by various political parties.
Davido, who is from Osun State, has remained vocal about developments surrounding the election in recent days. He has repeatedly called for close monitoring of the electoral process by relevant local and international stakeholders.
