Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has continued to weigh in on the political contest in Osun State, engaging critics and reacting to controversial developments ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Davido, who is the nephew of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, used his X account to respond to several posts concerning the election and the activities of political actors in the state.
In one of his latest interventions, the singer reacted to a post by journalist Oseni Rufai concerning Senator Francis Fadahunsi, saying, “In a working democracy he’d be in jail.”
Rufai had earlier written, “Senator Fadahunsi you are wrong,” in response to comments attributed to the senator that have attracted criticism in the build-up to the election.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, has faced scrutiny following the circulation of a video in which he was allegedly heard making remarks that were interpreted by some as threatening violence against members of the Accord Party.
The controversy has become a major issue in the closing stages of the campaign, with Governor Adeleke calling for the senator’s arrest and investigation. The police have also questioned Fadahunsi over the remarks.
Davido subsequently turned his attention to the campaign activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Responding to an X post suggesting that the party had failed to pay TikTok influencers, the singer wrote, “Nah only Twitter den pay.”
He also dismissed a claim that a video he shared in connection with the political situation in Osun was generated using artificial intelligence.
An X user, @ChuksEric, had questioned the authenticity of the footage and alleged that it was AI-generated. Davido responded, “Omg this guy is a fool.”
The singer also reacted to a video showing senior APC figures arriving in Osun for the party’s final campaign activities.
The footage showed Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other prominent APC politicians arriving in Osogbo ahead of a major rally for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Commenting on the development, Davido wrote: “If you like gather Jesus 12 disciples o ma LULLE for the 3rd time!!!!!”
His comments came as the APC intensified its mobilisation efforts ahead of the August 15 election, with Akpabio, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other senior party leaders joining the campaign in support of Oyebamiji.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Osun State governorship election for August 15, 2026.
Thirteen candidates are participating in the election, although the contest has increasingly focused attention on Governor Adeleke, APC candidate Oyebamiji and African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam.
The final days of the campaign have been marked by heightened political rhetoric, accusations between rival camps and concerns about security and the conduct of political actors.
Governor Adeleke has urged residents to participate in the election peacefully and protect their votes while cautioning against violence and confrontation.
Davido’s involvement has added another high-profile voice to the political discourse surrounding the election. The singer has repeatedly used his social media platforms to comment on developments involving political parties, candidates and other public figures.
As voters prepare to go to the polls, attention remains on the ability of political parties and their supporters to maintain peace and allow the electorate to freely choose the next governor of Osun State.
