The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, recording an 81.24 percent pass rate in English Language and mathematics.

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Aminu Mohammed, announced the results at a news conference in Benin on Wednesday.

Mohammed said 79,503 candidates, representing 81.24 percent of the 97,863 candidates whose results were graded, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and mathematics.

The figure represents an improvement from the 68.18 percent pass rate recorded in the 2025 examinations.

“The improvement recorded in the 2026 examination is encouraging and demonstrates the collective efforts of candidates, teachers, schools, parents and the wider education system,” Mohammed said.

The registrar also disclosed that 89,580 candidates, representing 91.53 percent, obtained five credits and above with or without English Language and mathematics, compared with 83.28 percent recorded in 2025.

According to him, 24,128 candidates, representing 24.65 percent, were certified as craftsmen.

He further said the examination recorded a high attendance rate of 97.80 percent, with 97,867 candidates sitting for the examination out of the 100,069 candidates who registered.

Mohammed said the results were released 52 days after the conclusion of the final examination paper, describing the development as part of NABTEB’s commitment to timely service delivery.

On examination malpractice, the NABTEB boss said 847 candidates were involved in 1,554 reported cases of malpractice, representing 1.55 percent of the candidates who sat for the examinations.

He said the figure represents a reduction compared with the previous year, attributing the decline to measures introduced by the board to strengthen examination integrity and curb malpractice.

Mohammed advised candidates to check their results only through NABTEB’s official portal, warning them against individuals or groups claiming they could alter, upgrade or manipulate examination results.

He stressed that no individual has the authority to change a legitimately awarded NABTEB grade.

The 2026 results reflect a significant improvement in candidates’ overall performance, particularly in the number of students who obtained five credits, including English Language and mathematics.
