Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a Nigerian Army soldier who was declared wanted over allegations of supplying military gear to terrorists and other criminal elements operating in the North-East.

The suspect, identified as Private Mohammed Yusuf (Service Number: 23NA/84/1939) of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, Lagos, was arrested by troops of the 7 Provost Group on Saturday, July 25, 2026, following credible human intelligence.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the soldier was apprehended at about 6:30 p.m. at Jidari Bus Stop in Maiduguri, Borno State, while allegedly attempting to escape to the Republic of Cameroon.
The Army said Yusuf had been declared wanted on July 23, 2026, over allegations that he supplied military accoutrements to terrorist groups and other criminal networks.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly absconded from his unit on July 7, 2026, before relocating to Maiduguri, where he reportedly hid in the Gomari Costain area of Jere Local Government Area with the assistance of an associate.
Military authorities described the arrest as another success for intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks and enforcing discipline within the Armed Forces.

The Army disclosed that the suspect is currently in the custody of the 7 Provost Group, where investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of his alleged activities and identify other individuals who may have been involved in the operation.
Operation HADIN KAI stressed that no individual, regardless of rank or status, would be protected if found aiding terrorism or other criminal activities.
The military also reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability and integrity in its ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the North-East, while urging members of the public to continue providing credible and timely intelligence to security agencies.
