The recent movement of some prominent associates of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to the political camp of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has continued to generate intense political debate, with analysts insisting that the former lawmaker remains a formidable force whose political structure should not be underestimated.

In the past week, Engr. Theo Mukoro, Hon. Felix Ogbajini and Chief Love Ojakovo, a former Delta State commissioner and respected political figure from Ethiope East, were separately seen with Governor Oborevwori in meetings that have since attracted widespread attention across social media.
While Mukoro publicly announced his decision to align with Governor Oborevwori and the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need to attract development to his community and support the governor’s MORE Agenda, neither Ogbajini nor Ojakovo has publicly explained the purpose of their meetings with the governor.
In a statement titled “Statement of Commitment and Clarification,” Mukoro said his decision was driven by the need to facilitate development projects for his community, particularly the rehabilitation of the neglected College of Health Technology, Ofuoma. He also reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to the APC, where he has served as campaign coordinator for presidential, senatorial and governorship elections in Ughelli North over the past eight years.
Despite the growing political discussions surrounding the meetings, Senator Omo-Agege has remained publicly silent.
At a recent political consultation in Orogun, his hometown in Ughelli North Local Government Area, the former Deputy Senate President avoided commenting on the reported defections. Instead, he focused on mobilising support for the New Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates contesting the forthcoming Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency and Ughelli Constituency I elections.
His refusal to react has further intensified speculation over what many observers now describe as an unfolding political chess game ahead of future elections.
Political analyst Lucky Onokpekun cautioned against interpreting Omo-Agege’s silence as political weakness.
“Omo-Agege remains one of the most influential political figures in Delta State. His grassroots network was built over many years and cannot be dismantled by a few high-profile defections. In politics, silence can sometimes be more strategic than public confrontation,” he said.
Onokpekun argued that while Governor Oborevwori may be celebrating the recent political alignments, seasoned politicians understand that public appearances do not always reflect underlying political realities.

Another political analyst, Henry Efemena, said the recent movements have triggered debate over whether the developments represent genuine political realignments or a carefully calculated strategy.
“There is growing speculation in political circles that these movements could be designed to create a false sense of security within the governor’s camp. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, but anyone familiar with Delta politics knows that Senator Omo-Agege is a seasoned strategist whose political calculations are rarely predictable,” Efemena said.
He added that the absence of any public disagreement between Omo-Agege and the politicians who recently met Governor Oborevwori has further fuelled speculation that more may be happening behind the scenes than is publicly known.
Political observers remain divided over the significance of the recent developments.
While some believe Governor Oborevwori is steadily expanding his political coalition ahead of future elections, others argue that writing off Omo-Agege would be premature, insisting that his enduring grassroots influence and disciplined support base continue to make him one of the most formidable political figures in Delta State.
For now, Senator Omo-Agege’s silence remains one of the biggest talking points in Delta politics, with many awaiting his next move in what is increasingly being viewed as a high-stakes battle for political supremacy.
