Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has opened up about the decision to give her former husband, Ademidun Ojo, a prominent role during their daughter Priscilla Ojo’s wedding, saying her priority was her children’s happiness rather than past grievances.
Speaking on The Morayo Show on Monday, the actress said she deliberately refused to let the breakdown of her marriage affect her daughter’s special day, stressing that children should not bear the consequences of conflicts between their parents.
According to Iyabo, growing up in a separated home influenced her resolve to break what she described as unhealthy family cycles.
She explained that she wanted her children to enjoy a different experience from the one she had and was willing to set aside personal differences to make that happen.

“I made up my mind that whatever mistakes were made before me would not be repeated by my children. I had to put aside my feelings and play my part so she could be happy in her marriage,” she said.
The actress also dismissed criticism over her ex-husband’s visible presence at the wedding, insisting that he remained Priscilla’s father and had every right to witness one of the biggest moments of her life.
“My issues with him are between us. They have nothing to do with our children. He didn’t wrong her, so there was no reason to exclude him,” she added.
Iyabo and Ademidun Ojo married in 1999 and welcomed two children before ending their marriage in 2001.
Their daughter, Priscilla, married Tanzanian music star Juma Jux in a lavish series of ceremonies held across Nigeria and Tanzania in 2025.
The celebrity wedding attracted widespread attention, with family members from both sides participating in the celebrations.
Since then, the couple has welcomed their first child, a son, and have continued to share moments from their family life with fans.
