Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has flagged off the distribution of subsidised fertilisers for the 2026 farming season, urging farmers to make proper use of the agricultural inputs while warning against their sale, hoarding, or diversion.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at the Adamawa State Agricultural Mechanisation Authority in Yola, Governor Fintiri said anyone found selling, hoarding, or diverting the subsidised fertilisers procured by the state government would face appropriate sanctions.
The governor stressed that the fertilisers were purchased specifically to support genuine farmers and boost agricultural production across the state.
He also appealed to beneficiaries not to sell the fertilisers, emphasizing that they are meant for use on farms to improve crop yields and enhance food security.

Governor Fintiri officially launched the distribution of the subsidised fertilisers to the 21 local government areas of the state and various farmers’ associations as part of the government’s preparations for the 2026 farming season.
According to the governor, the state is richly endowed with vast fertile agricultural land, making farming one of the state’s key economic activities.
He noted that the procurement of the fertilisers underscores his administration’s commitment to supporting farmers, increasing crop production, and improving food availability within the state and neighbouring communities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of farmers across Adamawa State.
