Scottish Premiership club Hibernian have sacked head coach David Gray after just six league matches of the new season, following a 1-0 home defeat to bottom-placed Kilmarnock.
The result left Hibernian ninth in the league table with six points and extended their run of consecutive home league defeats to six, dating back to last season.

Hibernian Sack David Gray After Kilmarnock Defeat
Hibernian executive chairman Ian Gordon said the decision to sack Gray followed a decline in results and performances.
“Ultimately, this is a decision that we have not taken lightly, but unfortunately, one as a board we had to make due to the recent downturn of results and performances,” Gordon said.
Gray’s assistants, Liam Craig and Craig Samson, have also left the club.
John Potter has been placed in temporary charge ahead of Hibernian’s home fixture against Aberdeen on Saturday.
David Gray’s Hibernian Legacy
Gray, a former Hibernian captain, spent 12 years at Easter Road as both a player and coach.
He became a club legend after scoring the stoppage-time winning goal against Rangers in the 2016 Scottish Cup final, helping Hibernian end a 114-year wait for the trophy.

Gray retired as a player in 2021 after making 177 appearances for the club before joining the coaching staff.
He had previously taken charge of Hibernian on three occasions as caretaker manager before being appointed permanent head coach in May 2024, replacing Nick Montgomery.
Gray Guided Hibs to Third-Place Finish
Gray initially struggled in the league, winning just one of his first 15 matches in charge.
However, he oversaw a strong recovery that resulted in Hibernian finishing third in the league and securing European qualification.
Hibs finished fifth the following season and again secured European football, although their Conference League campaigns ended with dramatic play-off exits.
During his tenure, Gray managed 107 matches, recording 43 victories, 35 defeats and 29 draws.
Hibernian Face Hearts in League Cup
Gray’s departure comes with Hibernian still scheduled to face city rivals Hearts in a League Cup semi-final on November 1.
Gordon paid tribute to the former Hibernian captain, describing him as an inspirational figure who maintained high standards of professionalism and work ethic throughout his time at the club.
“He has delivered some incredible moments for our fans, and brought a level of stability and consistency that we haven’t reached in recent years,” Gordon said.
