Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has made Fantasy Premier League (FPL) history after being valued at a record £15.5 million, the highest price ever assigned to a player in the game’s history ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The record valuation was announced as the Premier League rolled out several new features and rule changes designed to improve the Fantasy experience for millions of managers worldwide.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes also recorded one of the biggest price increases in FPL history, rising by £3 million to £12 million, while Arsenal defender Gabriel reached £8 million, making him only the third defender to achieve that valuation.

Among the biggest additions for the new season are live mini-league updates, allowing global rankings, private leagues, head-to-head contests and FPL Cup ties to refresh in real time during matches.

Fantasy managers will also have access to projected bonus points, which will begin appearing after the first 20 minutes of games and update continuously based on the Bonus Points System.

Another major innovation is the Price Change Predictor, a feature that tracks transfer trends and highlights players most likely to increase or decrease in value. The Premier League noted that the tool is intended as a guide and does not guarantee future price changes.

Squad pages have also been redesigned to include fixture difficulty ratings, player ownership statistics and upcoming opponents, while a new career statistics section will enable managers to compare their long-term performance with the wider FPL community.

The Bonus Points System has been refined to reduce overlap with defensive contribution points, creating greater opportunities for goalkeepers, full-backs and attacking players to earn bonus points.

In addition, the Gameweek deadline has been adjusted, with the lockdown now taking effect at 9:00 a.m. UK time on the day after the final fixture, giving Opta more time to verify match data before scores are finalised.

The Premier League confirmed that the core chip system remains unchanged, with managers retaining two sets each of Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain and Bench Boost chips, alongside the ability to carry over up to five free transfers.

However, the additional free transfers introduced last season to ease scheduling during the Africa Cup of Nations have been removed, as the 2026/27 campaign will not be affected by the tournament.

Other updates include 11 player position reclassifications, the retention of defensive contribution points and the launch of Adobe Express Gameweek Recaps, which will provide personalised visual summaries of each manager’s weekly performance.

The Premier League said the latest changes are aimed at giving Fantasy managers more real-time information and improved tools to make better decisions throughout the season.
