- Gehgeh defends Davido’s right to support any political party or candidate of his choice.
- The controversy adds to ongoing debates about celebrity influence and political expression ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Gehgeh made the remarks in a video while reacting to the controversy surrounding Davido’s political views and VeryDarkMan’s reported warning that he would “wash him down” if the singer spoke about Nigerian politics again.
The social media personality argued that Davido, like every other Nigerian, has the constitutional right to support a political party or candidate of his choice, insisting that his political position should not expose him to personal attacks.
“VeryDarkMan’s relationship with Burna Boy is making him see Davido as his enemy,” Gehgeh said.
He described the reported warning against Davido as inappropriate, arguing that political disagreements should not be used to restrict anyone’s freedom to express personal opinions or support a preferred candidate.
“That statement is wrong in all ramifications. You’re not more Nigerian than Davido,” he said.
Gehgeh Links VeryDarkMan-Davido Dispute to Burna Boy
Gehgeh also compared the controversy with the period when streamer Carter Efe was associated with Davido and allegedly began attacking VeryDarkMan.
He argued that the activist appeared to be treating Davido as an adversary because of his association with Burna Boy.
However, Gehgeh’s claim that Burna Boy’s relationship with VeryDarkMan is influencing the activist’s position towards Davido remains an allegation and has not been independently established.
Gehgeh Defends Davido’s Political Choices
Defending Davido’s political decisions, Gehgeh argued that personal relationships can influence people’s choices during elections. He maintained that supporting a family member or friend involved in politics is not unusual.
“If my elder brother is competing for any political party, should I leave my brother and support someone I don’t know?” he asked.
Gehgeh urged VeryDarkMan to reconsider his comments about Davido, warning that the activist could eventually regret disregarding the advice.
