Nigeria’s Flamingos continued their impressive campaign at the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup after securing a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso on Monday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
The win means Nigeria have now collected maximum points from their opening three matches, maintaining a perfect nine-point record and their unbeaten run in the competition.
The Flamingos dominated possession during a tightly contested first half but were unable to find a breakthrough as Burkina Faso defended resolutely and frustrated Nigeria’s attacking efforts.
Despite creating several promising openings and maintaining pressure in the final third, Nigeria went into the interval with the scores level at 0-0.
The West Africans returned for the second half with greater attacking intensity as they continued searching for the opening goal.
Nigeria’s persistent pressure eventually paid off in the 82nd minute when Mary Dunstan found the net with a composed finish to give the Flamingos a deserved lead.
The goal changed the complexion of the encounter, with Nigeria maintaining pressure as Burkina Faso struggled to contain their attacks.

The Flamingos then put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored to make it 2-0.
Adegbuyi’s late strike completed another strong performance from Nigeria and ensured the team secured all three points.
The victory keeps the Flamingos at the top of the standings with nine points from three matches and further strengthens their position in the tournament.
Nigeria, who finished as runners-up at the inaugural edition of the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup in Ghana two years ago, will now turn their attention to their next fixture as they continue their pursuit of the title.
