Finance Bill 2027: FG Invites Nigerians, Businesses to Submit Proposals

The Federal Government has opened submissions for the Finance Bill 2027, inviting Nigerians, businesses, investors, professional bodies, civil society organisations, academics and public institutions to propose changes to Nigeria’s fiscal laws.

The Federal Ministry of Finance said the consultation is aimed at developing better fiscal laws that can strengthen Nigeria’s revenue system, improve economic governance and enhance the country’s competitiveness.

  • Nigerians, businesses, investors and other stakeholders can submit proposals.
  • Contributions should identify the specific law and provision proposed for amendment.
  • Contributors are encouraged to provide proposed drafting language.

  • Proposals can be submitted via financebill2027@fmf.gov.ng or the Federal Ministry of Finance online platform.

Areas Covered by Finance Bill 2027

The Federal Ministry of Finance said proposed reforms should focus on critical changes and evidence-based amendments in five broad areas.

These include:

Taxation and Revenue Administration

Fiscal Policy and Management

Fiscal Responsibility, Transparency and Accountability

Financial and Economic Regulation

Other matters affecting Nigeria’s competitiveness and economic governance

The ministry said stakeholders should be specific in their submissions by identifying the law and provision they believe requires amendment.

Contributors are also encouraged to provide suggested drafting language for proposed amendments.

How to Submit Finance Bill 2027 Proposals

Members of the public and other interested stakeholders can submit their proposals by email to:

financebill2027@fmf.gov.ng

Submissions can also be made through the online form available on the Federal Ministry of Finance website.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 11, 2026.

The ministry urged Nigerians and relevant stakeholders to participate in the consultation, stressing that their contributions could help shape the country’s fiscal and economic policies.

The Finance Bill 2027 consultation forms part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal framework, improve economic governance and create a more productive and competitive economy.
