The ministry in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Efe Ovuakporie, described the message as the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit unsuspecting applicants by falsely claiming to act on behalf of the Ministry.
According to the statement, the fake notice, titled: “Administrative Update and Compliance Notice for Newly Recruited Staff,” alleges that the ministry’s human resource management department directed successful applicants to pay an administrative fee before assuming duty.
The ministry categorically denied issuing such a directive, stressing that the message did not originate from any office or official of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
It further clarified that recruitment into the ministry is conducted strictly in line with established Federal Civil Service procedures and that at no point in the recruitment, documentation, or onboarding process are applicants required to pay any administrative, processing, or resumption fees.

“The Federal Ministry of Finance does not request or accept payments from applicants or newly recruited staff at any stage of its recruitment process,” the statement emphasized.
The ministry advised prospective employees and members of the public to ignore the fraudulent message and refrain from making payments or sharing personal and financial information with individuals behind the scam.
It also urged anyone who receives the message or possesses information that could help identify those responsible to report the matter to relevant law enforcement agencies or notify the Ministry through its official communication channels.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and integrity in all recruitment processes and pledged to continue working with appropriate authorities to protect the public from fraudulent activities carried out in its name.
It further encouraged Nigerians to verify information relating to employment opportunities through official government channels before taking any action.
