The federal government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening teacher professionalism, enhancing institutional capacity, and driving digital transformation to improve learning outcomes across Nigeria’s education sector.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade.
Speaking at the 2026 3-Day retreat of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, said quality teachers and efficient institutions remain critical to national development.
She explained that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) are focused on improving foundational learning, enhancing teacher quality, strengthening education governance, and accelerating the adoption of digital technologies in schools.
Prof. Ahmad urged the TRCN to sustain efforts aimed at promoting professional standards, ethical conduct, and continuous capacity development among teachers.

She also emphasized the need to leverage technology to improve communication, data management, and service delivery within the education system.
The minister further called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Education, TRCN, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and other stakeholders to equip educators with the digital skills required to meet the demands of 21st-century learning.
She reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote teacher professionalisation, institutional excellence, and technology-driven service delivery, noting that investing in teachers remains essential to building a globally competitive education system.
