Davido’s Aide Dre DMW Fires Back At VeryDarkMan Over Mohbad Case, Accuses Activist Of Lying

The public fallout between singer Davido and social media activist VeryDarkMan has taken a new turn after the singer’s aide, Dre DMW, attacked the activist over his claim that members of Davido’s crew plotted his arrest during the controversy over the late singer Mohbad’s death.

Key Highlights

  • Dre DMW accused VeryDarkMan of lying about Davido and his associates.
  • VeryDarkMan alleges a WhatsApp group discussed plans to have him arrested in 2024 over his Mohbad advocacy.

  • Dre told the activist to ask the authorities who arrested him why he was detained.

The exchange followed VeryDarkMan’s account of how his once-friendly relationship with Davido allegedly collapsed after he came across a WhatsApp group conversation in which, he claimed, members of the singer’s crew discussed plans to secure his arrest in 2024.

Dre: “No Single Truth”

Dismissing the claims, Dre wrote: “Vincent, you too dey lie. No single truth for wetin you yarn. You need make them feed you truth.”

He also questioned why VeryDarkMan was blaming Davido and his associates for his arrest instead of seeking answers from the authorities involved.

“Suddenly, Vincent no know why dem arrest am. Sebi na NCC department you dey arrest people and na them arrest you. So why you no ask them why dem go prison?” he added.

Dre further accused the activist of creating controversies and relying on information supplied by people around him.

“You’re useless guy, Vincent. E be like say you dey create lies. You and all the people wey dey feed you lies,” he stated.

The singer’s aide also challenged VeryDarkMan to give details of his allegations about Davido’s associates and questioned his claims about the Marlian group, before advising him to focus on the social media activities that made him popular.

“Focus on selling market wey you gain followers for. Stupid boy,” Dre wrote.

VeryDarkMan’s Account

Before Dre’s response, VeryDarkMan had publicly explained the events he says led to the fallout, claiming he felt betrayed after discovering that people close to the singer were involved in discussions about his arrest.

Recounting how the relationship began, the activist said he was excited when Davido followed him on social media and that they became friendly.

“After Davido followed me, I was excited. After then, we became cool. If he drops music, I’ll show love by promoting it. We had a couple of conversations in the DM, but to be very honest, it was always him asking for favours. I’ve never asked him to do anything for me,” he said.

He claimed that in 2025 he obtained a WhatsApp group conversation allegedly involving actress Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, Samklef, K-Solo and some members of Davido’s DMW crew, in which, according to him, some of them discussed plans to have him arrested in 2024 over his campaign for justice for Mohbad.

“I was surprised. Me and Davido, we dey cool, and me and the same crew guys were always laughing. How come these guys were the ones who planned my arrest when I was spending months in Kuje?” he questioned.

VeryDarkMan said he repeatedly tried to reach Davido for an explanation, but the singer did not answer his calls. He added that after a post by blogger Cutie Juls drew attention to his attempts, some social media users accused him of wanting to record Davido’s voice to blackmail him.

“I was betrayed. I was like, why? I just wanted to confirm something. I wanted to ask why your boys were in such a WhatsApp group. When he did that, it was very, very disappointing,” he said.

He also claimed to have sent the singer a message expressing his disappointment: “For you to plan my downfall like this, if I see you here, I pass like this. You see me, I pass. And you dey follow me laugh. You dey do bro, bro.”

The allegations about the WhatsApp group and the purported plan to have the activist arrested remain VeryDarkMan’s claims and have not been independently verified. Davido himself has not been quoted on the latest allegations.
