Jose Mourinho suffered his first defeat since returning to Real Madrid after Real Betis edged the Spanish giants 1-0 in a dramatic LaLiga encounter on Friday.
Real Madrid went into the fixture with a perfect record, having won their opening three league matches, but found themselves frustrated by a disciplined Betis defence.
Mourinho’s side dominated possession for much of the game but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities as the hosts remained organised and resilient.
Betis eventually broke the deadlock in the 81st minute when Troy Parrott struck to send the home crowd into celebration.

Madrid were presented with a golden chance to salvage a point late in the game after Vinicius Junior was brought down inside the penalty area.
Kylian Mbappe stepped up to take the resulting spot-kick, but Betis goalkeeper Álvaro Valles kept out his effort to secure all three points for the hosts.
The result ends Mourinho’s unbeaten start to his second spell at Real Madrid and continues the club’s struggles at the venue.
Real Madrid have now gone without a victory against Real Betis at the stadium since 2021.
