Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Arsenal F.C. following the club’s historic English Premier League title victory, describing the achievement as a symbol of resilience, discipline, strategic leadership, and long-term vision.

In a statement released by his aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku praised the players, coaching staff, and millions of supporters worldwide for what he called a remarkable accomplishment.
According to him, Arsenal’s return to the summit of English football was the result of years of rebuilding, consistency, and bold decision-making.
He said: “Arsenal’s victory did not happen overnight. It is the product of years of rebuilding, disciplined planning, bold decision-making, and the courage to stay the course even when success seemed distant.”

The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate compared the club’s transformation to his economic and political vision for Nigeria, stressing the importance of institutional reforms, youth development, and private-sector-driven growth.
Atiku noted that just like a successful football club, a nation must create an environment where talent can thrive and performance is rewarded.
He also acknowledged the loyalty of Nigerian Arsenal supporters, describing their unwavering support through difficult seasons as a reflection of the Nigerian spirit.
“Their loyalty is a reflection of the enduring Nigerian spirit—hopeful, resilient, and unbreakable,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Atiku urged Nigerians to remain hopeful about the country’s future, saying meaningful change requires patience, unity, and consistency.
He further encouraged Arsenal F.C. to target European glory by winning the UEFA Champions League.
“Having conquered England, I encourage Arsenal to set their sights firmly on the UEFA Champions League.
“The spirit, quality, and determination that delivered the Premier League title can certainly secure a historic double,” he added.
