Adamu Atiku has officially declared his intention to contest the Adamawa South senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Announcing his ambition in a statement, Adamu said the decision comes after months of consultations with constituents, political stakeholders, and supporters across the senatorial district.
He revealed that he will be contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), noting that increasing calls for experienced and people-oriented representation motivated him to join the race.
Adamu also confirmed that he has obtained his nomination form, describing the move as the formal beginning of his campaign for the Senate.

According to him, the ambition represents more than a personal political quest, stressing that it is a collective movement aimed at promoting unity, development, and effective representation for the people of Adamawa South.
His declaration comes weeks after his resignation from the cabinet of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, following the governor’s defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development also signals the deepening political involvement of the Atiku family within the ADC, following the recent alignment of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with the party ahead of the 2027 political season.
